London Event will showcase the potential in an alliance between UK's top Health & Sports figures
Harley Street World (HSW) is bringing together leading champions from the worlds of medicine and sport for an evening of networking and a filmed discussion on what sort of Health Legacy might result from an alliance between the UK's leading doctors and sports men & women. Scheduled for the evening of Tuesday 21 September (agenda below) the event will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Portman Square. Focal point of the evening's proceedings will be a filmed interview with a trio of invited guests and moderated by HSW chief executive Tam McDonald.
Legacy? What legacy?
A perpetual challenge since the founding of the modern Olympics has been how to create a legacy to justify the investment in staging this magnificent but expensive sporting event. Some host cities have managed it better than others. As with its predecessors, London is looking at issues of urban regeneration, infrastructural investment, and venue access for people generally, and for children especially. Now, perhaps, a bigger opportunity presents itself. Health costs are rising, public sector investment is stagnating, and we have the challenges of growing chronic illness populations AND the obesity timebomb. And come the London Olympics in 2012, the eyes of the world will be on us.
Now must be the time for a new and vital alliance between the worlds of health & sports. Our nation can be fitter, not fatter. Our children can outlive us, and thrive. Sports can again lie at the core of what drives us to greater achievements in all walks of life. At the core of our success will be a long-established area of excellence and driver of world renown: the clinicians of Harley Street.
